Baptism at Holy Cross
We joyfully welcome families preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism. Here’s how to get started:
Preparation Steps

Parents and godparents must attend a pre-baptismal preparation class.

Submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate.

Fill in the registration form.
If your child is over 7 years old, we offer the R.C.I.a.C. program to prepare them for Baptism.
Class Schedule
-
English: Every third Monday of the month at 6:00 PM
-
Spanish: Every second Sunday of the month at 1:30 PM
If you take the pre-baptismal class at Holy Cross but plan to baptize in another parish, please contact the Parish Office to request a letter of completion (valid for one year).
Baptism Day

Every Saturday at 1:00 PM

Starting November 2025, Baptisms will be celebrated at 12:30 PM
-
Please arrive 15 minutes before the Mass
About Godparents
Godparent Requirements (Canon Law)
Eligibility:
-
Must be at least 16 years old.
-
Must be Catholic and actively practicing their faith.
-
Must have received Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation.

If a couple, they must be married in the Catholic Church.
Submission Requirements:

Verification of Confirmation must be provided.

Godparents may be single or married:
-
Single: Cannot be living with a partner outside of marriage.

Married: Must provide a Catholic Church marriage certificate. Civil marriages in another denomination do not qualify.

Additional Notes:
-
Permission may be granted for only one godparent if a parent requests it.

Two godparents are not required; one is sufficient if all requirements are met.

The father or mother of the child cannot be a godparent of their own child.

Maximum of two godparents per child.
-
Canon Law requires that the two godparents be one man and one woman.
