What are the requirements for scheduling the Thanksgiving Mass for Quinceañeras?
- The quinceañera candidate must be registered in a Confirmation program, either at Holy Cross or at another Parish, by the time of her scheduled Mass date. Both the girl and the parents have the desire and commitment to continue the girls' faith formation and to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
- Please note:
- Parents are expected to baptize their children as infants, receive First Communion , and be confirmed in the 10th grade or have gone through the RCIA process. So the expectation is that the quinceanera girl , either in ninth or tenth grade, has already been baptized and has received their First Eucharist.
- To schedule a Quinceañera Mass, you must complete a "Quinceañera Registration form," which is available in the Parish Office, along with the required donation.
What days and times are there masses for quinceañeras?
The Mass of Thanksgiving for Quinceañeras are scheduled for Saturdays at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 2 p.m.
Among several Spanish-speaking countries and among many Hispanics in the United States there is the custom of celebrating the passage from childhood to adolescence with a ritual that expresses thanksgiving to God for the gift of life and that asks for a blessing from God for the years ahead.
